What is JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA XC?

This dermal filler is designed specifically for cheek augmentation and other cheek enhancement procedures. By using this filler, it is possible to reduce the appearance of smile lines while also filling out hollow cheekbones. While these are the most common uses approved by the FDA, the treatment has also been used along the jawline and temples.

What Makes JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA XC Different?

The NEW JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA XC formulation is enhanced for patient comfort. You can now get the smoothness you expect, with the improved comfort you want. What is Lidocaine Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that reduces the immediate feeling of pain and produce numbness. What is Hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent.

How Does This Filler Work?

Bella Excellence Juvéderm Voluma XC is designed specifically for cheek augmentation and other cheek enhancement procedures. The injected gel adds immediate volume and restores a smoother and more lifted appearance to the face with the NEW added comfort of 0.3% Lidocaine!

What is the Difference Between JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC and JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA XC?

Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is used to enhance volume effects in cheeks, lips, naso-labial folds, general folds, and very deep nasolabial folds. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®XC is a dermal filler designed specifically for cheek augmentation. By using this filler, it is possible to reduce the appearance of smile lines while also filling out hollow cheekbones. While these are the most common uses approved by the FDA, the treatment has also been used along the jawline and temples. It can give you contour and a subtle lift for up to two years with optimal treatment.

Is Anesthesia Available During the Treatment?

Local anesthetics are available before and during the cosmetic treatment. Many patients receive a topical anesthetic prior to the aesthetic treatment in order to numb the skin and reduce the overall pain level. It is also possible to have anesthetics placed in the injection itself. This means that pain relief is injected into the skin, which provides comprehensive pain relief. Lidocaine is the most common choice for pain relief. Anesthetic concerns should be discussed with a licensed injector prior to the procedure.

When Are The Results Visible?

The results of this cosmetic treatment are visible immediately. The fillers do not need time to take effect. However, some patients may experience swelling or bruising that can obscure the immediate effects. Once these factors are out of the way, most people will see noticeable change right away. You can also help reduce the effects of swelling and bruising by talking with our staff about what to do and avoid before and after your procedure, such as avoiding aspirins and alcohol prior to your treatment.

How Long Does it Last?

One of the best things about this aesthetic filler is that it can last a long time. Almost all patients who receive Juvéderm® VOLUMA XC will still see noticeable results nine months after the initial procedure. For most patients, the effects will last 1 to 2 years. Ongoing treatment can lead to longer, more pronounced results for superior long term benefits. While these are normal results, it is important to remember that results will vary from patient to patient.

Are There Any Side Effects?

As with any drug, side effects do exist, and not every treatment is right for every person. Side effects after a Juvéderm® VOLUMA XC treatment are usually minor and your injection specialist will discuss any possible difficulties during your initial consultation at Bella Medspa, while going over your medical history as well. Side effects from Juvéderm® VOLUMA XC may include:

  • Swelling
  • Sensitivity to touch
  • Itching
  • Soreness
  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Headache
  • Nausea

To lessen the chance of these risks, avoid high doses of vitamin E supplements, St. John’s Wort, aspirin (consult your primary doctor if you’re on aspirin therapy before stopping any prescribed regimen) and all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen, before your treatment because they may raise the chances of bleeding and bruising. If you have any of the following conditions, be sure to bring them up to your nurse injector prior to treatment:

  • Acute allergic reactions
  • Cold Sores
  • Bleeding problems
  • Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other anesthetics
